Cad iad na buntáistí le hiarbhunscoil lán-Ghaeilge?
We believe that parents and students should have another choice, a local choice, when choosing a secondary school.
Parents currently have a choice between a large number of community schools, community colleges, multi-denominational schools and private fee paying schools in the catchment area but they still do not have the option of an Irish language education.
Creidimid gur cheart go mbeadh rogha eile, rogha áitiúl, ag tuismitheoirí agus iad ag roghnú iarbhunscoil.
Tá neart coláistí pobail, pobailscoileanna, scoileanna ilchreidmheacha agus scoileanna príobháideacha le táille mar rogha ag tuismitheoirí sa scoilcheantar ach fós níl oideachas lán-Ghaeilge mar rogha acu.
Both international and Irish based studies have consistently demonstrated the many benefits to a child’s education when taught through second language. These benefits include:
- Enhanced academic achievements
- Higher levels of reading and writing in both Irish and English than the national average
- Greater tolerance of other cultures
- Improved reading skills in bilingual children in both languages
The benefit of a local Gaelcholaiste would spread far beyond the student body and their families.
Tá sé léirithe ag taighde idirnáisiúnta agus ag taighde in Éirinn go bhfuil iliomad buntáistí ann d’oideachas an pháiste nuair a dhéantar teagasc sa dara theanga.
Roinnt buntáistí ná:
- Buanna acadúla méadaithe
- Leibhéil níos airde ná an meán naisiúnta sa léamh agus sa scríobh i nGaeilge agus i mBéarla
- Caoinfhulaingt cultúir eile níos fearr
- Forbairt ar scileanna léitheoireachta sa dá theanga i bpáistí dátheangacha
Shroichfeadh buntáistí iarbhunscoile lán-Ghaeilge i bhfad níos mó ná daltaí agus clainne na scoile.
Such a facility would serve as a focal point in the community for promotion of Irish in every day life (even just a cúpla focal) as well as celebrating our traditional and modern “Irishness” with everyone in our community from all backgrounds, nationalities and cultures working together to keep our national language alive for generations to follow.
Chruthódh áis mar seo pointe lárnach sa phobal do chur chun cinn na teanga i saol laethúil na ndaoine (fiú le cúpla focal a úsáid). Chruthódh sé deis ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar ár dtraidisiún agus ár bhféiniúlacht nua leis an bpobal ar fad, ó gach cúlra, náisiún agus cultúr, ag obair le chéile lenár dteanga naisiúnta a choinneáil beo do na glúnta amach romhainn.
